Was the Katherine Character on Hawaii 5 0 Again

The following contains major spoilers from the serial finale of CBS' Hawaii Five-0.

Earlier CBS' Hawaii 5-0 entirely wrapped upwards its 10-flavour run on Friday nighttime, it had one last piffling surprise to jump on viewers.

Last an action-packed, emotions-filled hour in which McGarrett thwarted Daiyu Mei's pursuit of revenge for the death of her husband Wo Fat, V-0's team leader followed through on his demand/want to get away from the islands for a stretch, to find some long-elusive peace. But as he sat on a plane, awaiting take-off, a very familiar face asked if the seat next to him was free.

"Hey, sailor," said Catherine Rollins, Steve's erstwhile near-fiancée.

"That was you? You cracked the cipher?" he asked.

"Mmm-hmm. Lincoln got a concord of me, said you guys needed some assist. So…."

"He'south a practiced man."

"He must be," Catherine nodded. "You gave him the keys to Danno'south auto!"

"Well, I mean, we can't have Danny Williams driving his own car."

"Like he ever did."

Catherine so sat down next to Steve. Subsequently a weighty few seconds, she turned to inquire: "You ready?"

"Yeah," Steve answered, as he reached to hold Catherine'south manus, and the two traded warm smiles before the plane started to taxi.

TVLine asked 5-0 showrunner Peter 1000. Lenkov about the decision to bring back, one concluding time, Michelle Borth, who was a serial regular for Seasons 3 and 4 and has popped up now over again in the years since — most recently in the January 2019 episode in which McGarrett assembled an Expendables-esque squad to avenge Joe White'south death. TVLINE | Talk about the decision to have Catherine show upwards at the end, because obviously you could have gone two ways on that.
Yeah, I could accept listened to the fans and not brought her back! [Laughs] Wait, here's the thing: I know the characters best, in my opinion. I know people volition say "Well, I watched the show for 248 hours, I know them." But I write them, so I know them pretty well. And I roughshod that Catherine, like a good soldier, has always put God and country and her duty first and foremost, and there were decisions she had to brand which were hard decisions that affected people that she loved, that accept always come because of her soldier-first mentality. But I've always felt that she loved him. And I've ever felt that there was something pulling her abroad that was not of her own control. I felt that his happiness has always been by her side.

There's a niggling moment at the finish, if yous watch, where he turns in profile and he smiles. And it's the kickoff time that y'all've really seen this man smile in a long time. Now, he smiles at jokes, only smiling at feeling expert about the future is a dissimilar matter. I think that he could get off, find his peace, come up back and cease up in that chair [on the beach] with Danny, just perchance end up with a family, end upwardly with other things that could complete him. Sitting in that chair with Danny is a groovy way to sort of end their own journey together, merely I recall he's got to be fulfilled in other ways. This is a guy that's e'er seen Danny be a great father, and then I'd similar him to exist a great father. I'd like McGarrett to accept grandkids, I'd like to come across him have a fuller life.

TVLINE | In your mind, where was their flight heading?
I never thought most information technology. I thought that the idea that the show started with him landing on the isle, concluded with him leaving the island, would be the right thing. And again, he's not leaving forever! He's just leaving to find some peace. But [contrary to Danny'south proposition in the episode prior], he's not going to New Jersey, I'll tell you that! [Laughs]
